1.Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. Inhumane Hunting
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title.
When Zaroff told Rainsford to survive for 3 days in the woods 23. That relates to my title because Zaroff tells Rainsford he is going to be hunted.
When Zaroff told Rainsford he hunts people 20. This relates to my title because it is Inhumane Hunting and hunting humans isn’t Humane.
3. This story contains both types of conflict. Identify three examples of each (three internal, three external) and provide a brief description and page number of each example. With each example, label it as Character vs. Specific Outside Force or Character vs. Specific Internal Force (i.e. Rainsford vs. Tree/Rainsford vs. Nerves). External: When Rainsford almost gets caught by Zaroff in the forest(Rainsford vs. Zaroff.)21. When Rainsford fell in the water(Rainsford vs. water.)14. When Ivan points the gun at Rainsford. (Rainsford vs. Ivan.)17 Internal: When Zaroff decides not to kill Rainsford21. When Rainsford has to think about whether he wants to go hunting or not 22. When Rainsford had to figure out where to go 21.
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. When he has to figure out what to do when he falls off of the boat. (14-15) When his survival instincts kicked in and he had to figure out where to hide. (24) When he realizes he can capture Zaroff and sets a trap. (25)
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford won because he outlasted Zaroff in the game.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. If I would re- title the story “the most dangerous game “I would re- title it nothing good.
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. I would rename the story nothing good because nothing good came from being at the island. On page 22 its says “if he does not wish to be hunt, I turn him over to Ivan. “ Also on page 24 it says “Rainsford had fought his way through the bushes for 2 hours.” For him to be going through bushes for 2 hours must mean that something bad is coming his way. Lastly on page 23 it says “we call it death swamp.” If a part of the island is called death swamp how could it be good? I would rename it nothing good because is there anything good that comes from the island?
Nerves). Internal- when he is telling himself to keep his nerve.( page 24) external - The general wanted to go hunting but he didn’t want to so he said no against the general. ( page 19) internal – weather or not to hide from the general so he can stay alive. ( page 22) external – rainsford ran for 2 hours through bushes so he wouldn’t get caught. ( page 23) internal – “ I do not feel so well. I am worried.” ( page 23) external – he says when again the cat is playing with the mouse. ( page 25)
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. Rainsford develops on many different ways. On page 23 he said “ I do not feel so well. I’m worried.” On page 24 it says Rainsford try’s to use his hunting instincts to get away from the general. On page 25 he tries to outsmart the general and makes a trap so he can get away from him.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford has won this game because he was able to defeat Rainsford and get away if he wouldn’t of he would have been killed.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. “Stranded”
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. When Rainsford swam to the island he thought he was alone. (pg.15) Also when he and General Zaroff was looking for him while playing the game. (pg.23) and when Rainsford said he can hear General Zaroffs mocking laughter through the jungle. (pg.25)
Nerves). Internal is when Rainsford was telling himself “I must keep nerve, I must keep my nerve” (pg. 24) External is when General Zaroff tells Rainsford that he wants to hunt with him and Rainsford says no he wants to get back to the ship. (pg19) Internal is when Rainsford knows whether or not to hide from the General so he can stay alive.(pg22) External Rainsford ran for 2 hours through the bushes so he wouldn’t get caught. (pg.23) External when Rainsford says the cat has come again to play with the mouse so that’s Rainsford against General Zaroff. (pg.25) Internal Rainsford I do not feel so well in worried(pg.23)
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. Rainsford tries to use his hunting instincts to try to get away from General Zaroff (pg.24) So he decides to change what he’s doing he’s trying to outsmart the general. (pg.25) Rainsford says “I don’t feel so well. Im worried.”(pg.23)
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford defeated the general because the tree branch had feel on him so he has been defeated by Rainsford.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. Dead Island 2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. Page 20, “Hunting? Good God, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder.” Dead Island perfectly represents getting murdered on an island. Page 21 “Civilized? You shoot down men.” Page 21 “I hunt the scum of the earth-sailors from tramp ships-lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels…” 3. Nerves). Internal: Rainsford vs. fear, Rainsford vs anger, Rainsford vs. exhaustion. External: Rainsford vs Zaroff, Rainsford vs. Hounds, Rainsford vs. Enviroment, Zaroff vs. Tree
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. On page 28, the ending of the story is to how Zaroff was killed by Rainsford, so Rainsford is now the new Zaroff, hunting humans. On the same page, Rainsford developed by becoming smarter in the jungle by saying “…I found it quicker than walking through the jungle”, and even more from that page, he says “I am still a beast at bay” so he developed into a monster by wanting to kill General.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. This could mean two different things, depending on the interpretation of the given story. Rainsford has won physically, beating Zaroff in his own bizarre game, and then kills him, leaving Rainsford as an only victor, but there is a mental part of the story in the part which Zaroff succeeds at making Rainsford into a new Zaroff, to have the need to slaughter humans on his island.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. Or be hunted, because in this book it’s about people put on the island with the general that can either hunt or be hunted. 2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. 21; The general tells about how we hunts people to Rainsford and no one wins or fights back they just try to survive. 23; The general tells Rainsford he has to play the game when Rainsford tries to leave 27; Rainsford attacks them with a knife to hunt the general in hopes he dies. Nerves). External: page 25 general vs. nature when the tree falls on him: page 24 Rainsford vs. nature fighting the brush to get away from the mansion: page 24 Rainsford vs. general Zaroff when they hunted each other. Internal: page 20 Rainsford vs. self when he was afraid of general Zaroff: page 28 general vs. self when he couldn’t kill Rainsford: page 23 Rainsford vs. self when he realized he was playing a game. 4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. 24 When Rainsford first realized he’s playing a game.24 When he rigged a knife to kill the general and 25 when the tree came down and was suppose to crush, maybe kill the general. 5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford has won because he made it to midnight, made it back into the house after the 3 days, and killed the general.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. “The Hunt for Reinsford”
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. The general tried to get Reinsford to hunt human being’s but he wouldn’t, the general supplied him with a hunting knife and hunting cloths and moccasins, he chases Reinsford through the wood’s for three days until Reinsford finished the battle.
3. This story contains both types of conflict. Identify three examples of each (three internal, three external) and provide a brief description and page number of each example. With each example, label it as Character vs. Specific Outside Force or Character vs. Specific Internal Force (Rainsford vs. Tree/Rainsford vs. Nerves). General .vs. Reinsford, the whole story pg.13-28/ Reinsford .vs. Ivan, trap for dogs kills Ivan pg.27/ Reinsford .vs. General final showdown, they fight till one is dead pg.28/ Reinsford .vs. fear , he was scared when the general almost found him pg.24/ Reinsford .vs. anxiety, when he’s in the tree he can’t think clearly pg.24/ Reinsford .vs. nervousness, when he was in the tree he was nervous about what might have happened if he was caught pg.24
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. He is starting to set traps for Zaroff one with a tree one with a pit in the ground with spikes and one with a knife set to fly forward if set off pages 25, 26, 27. He tried to fool Zaroff with fake tracks to lure him in the wrong direction page 24. He has a final showdown with Zaroff a battle to the death pager 28.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. I say Zaroff won this battle because he turned Reinsford into what he didn’t want to become a murderer. Also he is sort of turned into a new Zarrof and might have slowly learned to love to hunt humans over the duration of the story.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. The vanishing dust because Rainsford vanished from the water to the island where general zaroff was. General Zaroff was the dust that swept Rainsford off his feet he was scared. He was scared that he was going to be swept away by general zaroff. That he would die. Example: like dust gets swept away by a broom. The dust is Rainsford. 2. 1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. Don’t Die Island!!! He has to survive and fight for his life. 2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title.
He makes a trap to kill Zaroff, Ivan, or a dog – P.26. He has to survive in the wild with limited gear – P. 24. He also has to keep away from dogs – P.26. They all show him trying not to die.
Nerves).
Internal conflict fear of what will happen in the end - P.24-28 – character vs himself. Internal conflict character Vs mind – as he runs away from Zaroff he is in a panic – P.26. Internal conflict character Vs will power – he has to motivate himself - P.26. External conflict he falls off boat - character Vs Ocean – p.14. External conflict character Vs wild – He runs through the wild – P.26. External conflict character vs Zaroff – He is trying to run away and live – P.27.
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. This shows Rainsford going from ok to happy and finally too crazy unhappy. First he hears signs of people and is happy – P16. Now he is overwhelmed with joy he is eating dinner with no problems P.18. Finally he is freaking out because he has to survive and beat Zaroff – P.26. This shows Rainsford going from ok to happy and finally too crazy unhappy.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. No one, Rainsford has been scared from this experience and didn’t want for any of this to happen. Also he didn’t want for Zaroff to die but that’s what it took for him to survive.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. I would rename it night crawlers
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title. The reason I rename it night crawlers is because general Zaroff only hunted Rainsford at night. (page 32) Another reason to call it night crawlers is because they are like animals looking for their prey. (page 24) Lastly I call it this because not many people like night crawlers, and I would refer general Zaroff as the night crawler.
Nerves). Internal stuggles for Rainsford is when he has to try to survive being hunted. (page 26) Another internal conflict is when he first realized he has to play the game. (page 23) When Rainsford set the trap for general zaroff and it didn’t work. He thought he was going to get away, but it has failed. ( page 26) An external force is when the tree fell on general Zaroff, they were kill each other. (page 26)Another one is they are trying to kill each other. (page 25) Lastly at the end of the book Rainsford and general Zaroff faced each other, they both knew that it was going to be hard to get out alive. (page 28)
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. In the beginning of the book Rainford was against hunting human, but he eventually he had turned. The first night Rainford have had wanted to jump on general Zaoff and try make him pass out so he could get away.(page 24) The second night he had set a trap for a tree to fall on him and kill him. (page 26) The third day he dug a hole and he cut stakes and put them at the bottom, so when he fell in he would get stabbed. (page 26) At the end of the game he had tried to kill general Zaroff 3 times, when in the beginning of the book he didn’t want to hurt anyone.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. I think Rainsford has won because he had ended the general’s bed and if he was still alive there is no way he would have let him sleep in there. General Zaroff had also said he had won the game. General Zaroff had said “one of us is to furish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed.” (page 28) Rainsford had ended sleeping in the bed.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme.
The new title of the book is The Killer in the Woods
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title.
3 instances that was make the title change was that it’s about Zaroff trying to kill Rainsford throughout the story. The second instance is that they were both close in comparison because they are both big game hunters. The final intense is that they are both in the jungle/woods hiding from each other hunting each other.
Nerves).
External: 1. Zaroff vs nature. When he fell into the trap that Rainsford built. pgs. 25-26 2. Rainsford vs. Zaroff. Zarrof is trying to hunt Rainsford. Pgs. 23-28 3. Rainsford vs. nature. Pg. 18 2. Rainsford vs. fears. When he was getting hunted by Zaroff and possibly could have gotten killed. Pgs. 18-26 3. Rainsford vs situation. 4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing and 5. developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. On page 13 he is a mello guy that is just preparing for a big game hunt and is happy and just thinking about the big game he is hunting. By the 19th page he is getting anxious because he just had a general which is the highest in the army is hunting him. By the 28th page Rainsford is calmed down because he is no longer scared and worried because Zaroff said that Rainsford won the game.
6. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer.
Zaroff won because he got Rainsford to go insane and that is what Zaroff wanted to happen was for Rainsford to go insane which happened so he beat Rainsford.

erous Game Analysis Name: Directions: Individually, answer each question. Focus on QUALITY of answer over QUANTITY of answer. Get to the point, be specific, and explain exactly what you mean with EXAMPLES from the text. 1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. Devil Always Loses General Zaroff is evil and at the end he loses. In the book it said that general congratulated Rainsford that he won the game 2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title.
The evil character is bad and he loses the fight and that’s why devil always loses. Rainsford was the good character and even though he is scared he can face his fear and he wins. In the book general said that congratulation you win page 28. Rainsford hears the laughter but I think he was laughing because he wanted to make him scared page 26. Page 24 Rainsford is saying to himself I must keep my nerve.
Nerves). Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. Rainsford is changing because he does not want to hunt anymore. He does not want to kill people any more but he wants to kill Zaroff.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford wins the fight and at the end he kills Zaroof. Rainsford killed Zaroff because he want to be free and he wanted that all people would not get hurt. 1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. I re-titled the story “What the pipe did”.
2. Provide three specific instances (brief description and page number) from the story that support your new chosen title. Explain how each reflects the new title.
The reason I picked “What the pipe did” is because the pipe did start it all. Pg. 14 If the rope didn’t bump the pipe out of Rainsford’s mouth he wouldn’t have tried to reach the falling pipe which led to home losing his balance and falling off. Pg. 18 Rainsford wouldn’t have to go to Zarroffs house in search for help if he didn’t fall off the boat. Pg. 26 Rainsford wouldn’t have to kill General Zarroff if he didn’t lose his pipe.
Nerves).
(Pg.25) (Zaroff vs. Branch) Rainsford made a trap to capture Zarroff. (Pg.26) (Hounds vs. Rainsford) Rainsford is being chased by dogs. (Pg.24) (Rainsford vs. Nature) He has to figure out how to get through the jungle.
4. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. Pg.24 Rainsford makes a false trail for Zarroff to follow Pg.25 Rainsford made a trap to capture Zarroff to try and save his life. Pg.28 Rainsford went against his morals of not killing a human being and killed Zarroff in the end of the story.
5. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. Rainsford killed General Zarroff, meaning Rainsford won the game.

1. Re-title the story. The title of the story should reflect the development of the characters, how the story is shaped, and should also reflect a theme. I would retitle the story The Greatest Game. I would name it this because it truly was one of the greatest games for general Zaroff, and it was a difficult battle for Rainsford. Another reason it is ‘The Greatest Game’ is because it changes both Rainsford and Zaroff. Also because in the end no one wins.
2. Nerves).
An external conflict in The Most Dangerous Game was with General Zaroff and Rainsford because Rainsford didn’t want to play Zaroff’s game (character vs. character page 23). Another external conflict was Zaroff against the tree because he got hit by the tree and had to go get his wound fixed (character vs. nature page 25). When Rainsford was fighting the ocean current that was an external conflict (character vs. nature page 15). An internal conflict that occurred in this book is when Rainsford had to decide whether or not to keep following the ship or not after he fell out (character vs. decision page 15). Another internal conflict was when Rainsford had to decide whether to play the game with Zaroff or not (character vs. death page 23). Rainsford was also going through an internal conflict knowing that someone was trying to hunt him (character vs. sanity page 24).
3. Rainsford develops over the course of this text. Find three different instances from the text (brief description and page number) that clearly identify that Rainsford is thinking, changing, and developing. With each of your examples, explain how that specific instance shows us that Rainsford is changing and developing. I could tell Rainsford was changing and developing when he didn’t get sleep the night before the game because he started thinking about what he would do (page 22). Rainsford was also developing into a different character when Rainsford was willing to hurt Zaroff with the tree I could tell he was changing (page 25).
4. Look at the last several paragraphs of the text. According to the story, Rainsford sleeps in Zaroff’s bed, meaning that Zaroff has been defeated. Who has won this game? Explain your answer. I don’t think anyone has won because Zaroff’s goal was to defeat Rainsford, which he failed at. And Rainsford’s goal was to get off the island and not kill anyone, but neither one of those went his way.
