1a. Stefano does this because he doesn't want to tear himself away from the curse. 1b. The colomber would have been much more violent and less forgiving than he was at the end of the story. 1c. I think Stefano's monster was his deceased father because he didn't like that the colomber had chosen him and sent Stefano inland. He is getting back at his father for doing that. 1d. The author is trying to tell us to not judge a book by is cover because the colomber was nicer than what everybody else thought it was. 2. colomber, ship, shore, pier, ocean, spirit, fleeing, understood, vessel, doomed

1a.He continues to risk his life because of his love for the sea. Stefano doesn't want to give up that love so he persues it until time seemingly slips through his fingers and he's already old. 1b.I think Stefano would have realized that not everything you hear is true. It was said that once to colomber chooses its target then that person becomes prey to the beast, but in the end Stefano learns that the colomer's intention was not to harm him, but to give him a present. 1c.Stefano's "monster" could have been his father buisiness. He could have been dissapointed in himself for leaving the family buisiness making him go back to the sea time and time again. 1d.The author is trying to tell us to not believe in everything you hear. The author is putting a fiction tale into a real situation. The tale of the colomber turned out to be untrue but because nobody ever denied the tale, it was passed down through generations and believed. This could be applied to everyday senarios. In many schools everyone hears rumors or gossip and since everybody hears it they tend to believe it until somebody comes and tell everyone that it is untrue. 2. 1. indefinable, 2.perceiving, 3.wake, 4.scruntinized, 5.pursue, 6. 1a.)I think he is curious and wants to see what happens. He goes back to sea when he is an adult and his father is dead to see if the Colomber is still waiting for him. 1b.)I think he would be the luckiest man alive at the time 1c.)The eagerness of wanting to go back to see would be the monster because he loves the sea 1d.)I think he is trying to tell us that not everything you hear is true 2.)Eager, emporium, Colomber, shark, obsession, ominously, dissuaded, scrutinized, phosphorescent, Perla del Mare

1a. He has become obbsessed with this monster and loves the sea. 1b.He wouldve gotten the sphere earlier and it wouldn’t have been to late and he could tell his father that the colomber was not trying to kill him. 1c.I think it would be his father because he is the one who sent Stefano hundreds of kilometers away to a inland city. 1d.I think maybe the author might be trying to tell us that just because someone tells you something dosent always mean its true. 2.1.intermittently 2.scrutinized 3.obstinately 4.expedient 5.inexorable 6.abyss 7.intrepid 8.sever 9.indomitable 10.placid

1a. He loves the sea and, he is addicted to the monster. 1b. I think he would've achived the sphere sooner. It also would'nt have been too late to tell his dad that the colomber wasn after him anymore and trying to kill him. 1c. If the Colomber wasn’t realthen Stefano wouldn’t keepcoming back to the sea because there wouldn’t really be a monster. What kept stefano coming back was his addiction to the sea and the monster. 1d. The author could be telling us that just because you here something that somebody says, it doesn’t always mean its true 2.1.intermittently 2. srutinized 3. obstinatly 4. expedient 5. inexorable 6. abyss 7.intrepid 8. sever 9.indomitable 10. placid

1.a. I believe that he keeps risking his life out at sea because first off, he loves the sea, but seoncdly, and more importantly, he is obsessed with the colomber, and the thought of the colomber only torments him when he isn't out at sea, so he continues to go to sea and risk his life because he can't stand being away from the sea and the colomber. 1.b. I belive that once he received the Perla del Mare he would have realized all that he could do with his life and fortune, and I belive that he would then journey around the world and live an extravagent life instead of always obesssing over the colomber. 1.c. I believe that it was his heart. He knew he belonged out at sea. He never could stop thinking about it and every chance he got he would sit at the port and just watch the sea. All he ever wanted to do with his life was be out at sea. It's what his heart wanted. 1.d. I believe that the author is trying to tell us that we can never obsess over one thing, we must live our lives to the fullest. In The Colomber, Stefan allowed the colomber to controll his life and obsessed over it day and night instead of using his fortune and living his life. The author is trying to show us what can happen if we let one thing control us. 2. 1. Curiosity 2. Atracted 3. Worrried 4. Mysterious 5. Ominusly 6. Dissuaded 7. Obsession 8. Doomed 9. Torment 10. 1 a. He knew it was his fate and that the colomber had chosen him and he knew that there was no way in stopping it from waiting for him. He wanted to prove his strength. 1 b. He would have seen he had nothing to be afraid of. 1 c. I think his "monster" was his fear and curiosity because he was scared of what was after him, but he also wanted to know why there was such a big deal over this "monster". 1 d. I think the lesson of this stotry is that everything you hear isn't always true and you should see things for yourself before you believe what anyone else tells you. 2.Intermittently, scrutinized, obstinately, expedient, inexorable, abyss, intrepid, sever, indomitable, placid.

1. a) Besides the fact that he loves the sea, I think he was extremely curious as to if the curse was real, and he also was doing a job. b) He wouldn’t have lived his whole life scared of the ocean and leaving his town. He wouldn’t have limitted his life to only one place. c) Id say the monster was his curiousity wondering if it was real and what would happen if he tried to go to sea. d) Maybe the lesson is that you shouldn’t believe everything you hear.

1A.) I think Stephano might not stay on land because he, like his mother thought it would be betraying his family if he did not sail for a living. 1B.)He would have problably have lived a more care free and comfortable life. 1C.)Curiosity, was the columber was actually real or just a tale his father told him? He would have to know to settle his thoughts or else he would go crazy wondering if the Columber was real or not. 1D.)I think the author is trying to tell us to form our own opinions and not just go off of other peoples word. 2.)1 Resigned 2 Synonymous 3 Abyss 4 Impulse 5 Expident 6 Fundamentally 7 Astonished 8 Seaworthiness 9 Slacken 10 Nonetheless

1a. Stefano doesn't do that, because he wants to keep the family tradition going, and wants to fall his father's foot steps. He also has always had the passion of wanting to going out at sea and sail. Stefano wasn't ready to let some sea monster stop him either.
1b. His life would have been so much better and he wouldn't of had to worry about it his whole life.
1c. I believe it was a shark that has stopped him for coming back to the sea. I think that, because in the story they kept saying shark.
1d. That you should never judge a book by it's cover and that it’s okay to take chances in life. You need to go out and check things out, because if you don't, then you never know what is out there waiting for you. You are your own person and you should have to listen to what others say.

1a)Stefano thinks that the colomber is waiting to hurt, possibly kill, him yet he sails because he doesn't want to believe that the creature that is following him out at sea is a colomber. He continues to risk his life is because he loves to sail out and about everyday. 1b)If Stefano faced the colomber when he was younger, he wouldn't be afraid of the colomber and he would have greater luck in life due to the pearl of the sea. 1c)Stefano was afraid that the colomber was going to hurt him and he wanted to prove that the colomber was just a regular shark and not a man-eating shark. He knew that the shark was not going to hurt or kill him, like they say in the stories and rumors. His "monster" is his father's legacy, that Stefano wanted to carry on. 1d)The auther is trying to tell us that all the stories and rumors we hear are not always true. We should never judge someone or something just by the way he, she, or it looks. 2)Intermittently, scrutinized, obstinately, expedient, inexorable, abyss, interpid, sever, indomitable, placid.

1.) 1a.)He continues to risk his life because he is curious and wants to overcome his fear 1b.)He would've felt better knowing that he had overcome his fear and that it was nothing to be afraid of 1c.)His curiosity kept him coming back to sea because he wanted to overcome his fears because he didn’t want to die not knowing what the Colomber was 1d.)The author is telling us that overcoming your fears is important

1a)I think he deosnt stay away from it because its something he grew up around. If you love doing something so much you wont let anything get in your way.
1b)Maybe he would of stayed away but I think he would of still went out to sea. Some people like the feeeling of being scared or in danger, for the thrill. I still think he would of went out to sea because he liked it so much just maybe he would have been more careful.
1c)Maybe it could have been a shark that he just kept seeing. Not necessarily the same shark. He could have been in shark infested waters.
1d)I think that the author is trying to tell us that theres more to the world then just what we see. Some are good things and some are bad. Maybe the author is tring to tell us that we should be more aware of our surroundings and look out and keep in mind of the dangers thatare around us. Maybe the author is trying to tell us that we shouldn’t believe everything we hear until theres actual proof. This "monster" could have been fake. Maybe that’s why he kept coming back out to the see.

1A.He continues to risk his life because he has been sailing for such a long tme now he won't let anything get in the way of him finally reaching land. Also, he said," an indomitable impulse dragged him without rest, from one ocean to anoter." Meaning that he is so determined he won't stop sailing until he reaches land. 1B.That he would've realized sooner that the colomber didn't want to kill him and that he only wanted to deliver him a message but he kept sailing away from it for about 50 years and never really knew what the colomber wanted. 1C.His "monster" was clearly only his mind telling him that when he left his son there at the port he only kept wanting to go back to find him because that was a huge part of his life that was missing and he wanted his son back 1D.The author is trying to tell us that your imagination or the way your mind thinks makes a big impact in your life including decisions you make or didn't want to make. Some imaginary things you may think are real may not actually be real. Everyone has a different perspective on situations and your mind controls that sometimes from doing what's right. 2.1.
