1)Abyss: Great are the statisfactions of an industrios well to do and quite life, but greater still is the attraction of the abyss. Intreped: Stefano bagan to sail, giving proof of his sea worthness, his resistance to fatigue and his intreped spirit Sever: He knew that this was his cures and his penalty and precisly perhaps he didn't find the stangth to sever himself from it. Obstinatley: it was his colomber slowly moving back and forth obstinatley waiting for him. Perceving: Stefano what are you doing there standing so still the captin asked his son, perceving him on the stern. Shrouded: On the placide sea shrouded in the nocternal shadwos. Strife: His pasion for the sea, his courage in times of strife and danger. Indomitable: an indomitable impolse draagged him with out rest. Fundamently: He fundamently considered it unecisary. This is the climax because, not only the reader but Stefano thinks that he will be devoured by the colomber. Although this problem is resolved quickly. 4i)It coulod be compared to the moral of the story. However, lessons don't have to be out of a story book, they can be learned from real life experiaces or from experances of other. 4ii)It is the curiosity and attraction to danger and the fear of the unkown. Stefano beleves that this monster will "devour" him. There is an attraction to this fate ("The attraction to the abyss" that the author talks about) that eludes him for his entier life. 4iii)He wasted his life running from the colomber. In his last days he faces his fear, later to die a relieved of his fears. 5)The lesson to be learned; there is an attraction and certan curiousity in the unknow and danger. Just like not knowing what waits behinde a closed door, the attraction to open the door is far greater than the fear of what is behind it. Stefano experiances this running from the shark. While he know that he will die, he faces the shark anyways (Refered to in the story as "The attraction of the abyss").

a)After the boy insisted, the father went to get a telescope, and he scrutinized the surface of the sea, in line with the wake. When the boy had gone astern, he stopped, his curisiosity aroused, to observe something that intermittently rose to the surface at a distance of two to three hundred meters, in line with the ship's wake. Great are the sastisfactions of an indrustriuos, well-to-do, and quiet life, but greater still is the attraction of the abyss. Stefano began to sail , giving proof of his sea worthiness, his resistance to fatigue, and his interpid spirit. He sailed and sailed, and in the wake of his ship, day and night, in good along. He knew that this was his curse and his penalty, and precisely for this reason, perhaps, he did not find the strength to sever himself from it. An indomitable impulse dragged him without rest, from one ocean to another. Officers and sailors saw him disappear down below, on the placid sea, shrouded in the nocturnal shadows. An indomitable impulse dragged him without rest, from one ocean to another. He might have move even to the most remote continent, and still the colomber would would have appeared in the mirror of the the nearest sea, with the inexorable obstinacy of a fatal intsrument. b) The inciting incident is that when the father tells that the colomber is after him and the cannot be a salior anymore. ichose this as the inciting incident beacuse this is when stefano was told he cannot be a salior. c) The climax is when the colomber says that he was not trying to devour him. this is when the story changes. i have not purseued you to devour you. d)1. a lesson is the theme of the story. d)2. the colomber caused curiosity for the main character. stefano wanted to see what the colomber would do. d)3. stefano wanted to face the colomber head on. he faced his fears. d)4. he got to face his fears. he was rewarded with the peace of mind that the colomber was nice. d)5. the lesson is that you should not let your fears control you. If you face your fears you can get more oppertuities. when he faced his fear he was rewarded with a pearl.

3A. When the boy had gone astern, he stopped, his curiosity aroused, to observe something that intermittently rose to the surface at a distance of two to three hundred meters, in line with the ship’s wake. 2 That is a colomber. It’s the fish that sailors fear above all others, in every sea in the world. It is a tremendous, mysterious shark, more clever than man. 3 For reasons that perhaps no one will ever know, it chooses its victim, and when it has chosen, it pursues him for years and years, for his entire life, until it has succeeded in devouring him. 4 Great are the satisfactions of an industrious, well-to-do, and quiet life, but greater still is the attraction of the abyss. 5 An indomitable impulse dragged him without rest, from one ocean to another. 6 I have not pursued you around the world to devour you, as you thought. 7-8 So the idea of that hostile creature waiting for him day and night became a secret obsession for Stefano. 9 Stefano began to said, giving proof of his seaworthiness, his resistance to fatigue, and his intrepid spirit. 10 And he recognized it as the famous Perla del Mare, which brought luck, power, love, and peace of mind to whoever possessed it.
3B. The inciting incident was when Stefano saw the colomber and his father warned him about what it would do to him. “That is a colomber. It’s the fish that sailors fear above all others, in every sea in the world. It is a tremendous, mysterious shark, more clever than man. For reasons that perhaps no one will ever know, it chooses its victim, and when it has chosen, it pursues him for years and years, for his entire life, until it has succeeded in devouring him. And the strange thing is this: No one can see the colomber except the victim himself and his blood relations.”
3C. The climax from the text is when Stefano is an old man and he decides that it's his time to go meet the colomber that has taken over all his thoughts from when he was a child. “Here, I am with you, finally… Now it’s just the two of us.”…“I have not pursued you around the world to devour you, as you thought. I was charged by the King of the Sea only to deliver this to you.” And the shark stuck out its tongue, offering the old captain a small phosphorescent sphere. Stefano picked it up and examined it. It was a pearl of unusual size. And he recognized it as the famous Perla del Mare, which brought luck, power, love, and peace of mind to whoever possessed it. But now it was too late. “Alas!” said the captain, shaking his head sadly. “How wrong it all is. I managed to condemn myself, and I have ruined your life.” “Goodbye, poor man,” answered the colomber. And it sank into the black waters forever.”
3D. a. A lesson is an experience one learns from, usually obtaining valuable information.
b. Stefano’s curiosity was caused by his father’s reaction to him seeing the colomber on his very first trip out to sea. “Despite my forty years,” said the father, “I believe I still have good eyesight. But I see absolutely nothing.” … “That bisonlike muzzle, that mouth continually opening and closing, those terrible teeth. Stefano, there’s no doubt, the colomber has ominously chosen you, and as long as you go to sea, it will give you no peace. Listen to me: We are going back to land now, immediately, you will go ashore and never leave it again, not for any reason whatsoever. You must promise me you won’t. Seafaring is not for you, my son. You must resign yourself. After all, you will be able to make your fortune on land too.” His father immediately took him back to shore and banned him from ever coming back to see so he could be safe. Therefore, his curiosity peaked because he could only ever wonder what would happen if he confronted the colomber.
c. He devoted his entire life to obsessing over the thought of the colomber. Even when he was ashore and far away, he couldn’t get the thought of it out of his mind. So, this helped Stefano develop because by the end he finally was able to decide to face his curiously and face the colomber.
d. Thanks to his curiosity, he faced his fears and decided to come face to face with the colomber.
e. The lesson learned from The Colomber is how your imagination can take flight and control one’s life. After his father sent him away, he became mad over the thought of the unknown. Stefano’s imagination took him places that only he could develop and longed to visit home and see the colomber waiting for him.

1. Perla Del Mare- And he recognized it as the famous Perla Del Mare, which brought luck, power, love, and piece of mind to whoever possessed it. 2. Phosphorescent- And the shark stuck out its tongue, offering the old captain a small phosphorescent sphere. 3. Colomber- That is the Colomber 4. Harpoon- And gathering his remaining strength, he raised the harpoon to strike. 5. Captain- "Oh I wished I had never listened to you," the captain exclaimed 6. Seafaring- Seafaring is not for you, my son. 7. Sea Monster- Stefano no longer thought about the sea monster. 8. Second Officer- Having gotten the assurance, Stefano reveled to the second officer the story of The Colomber has continued to pursue him uselessly for nearly 50 years. 9. Companions- He asked his companions from time to time, pointing at the wake. 10. Obsession- So the idea of that hostile creature waiting for him day and night became a secret obsession for Stefano. b) Stefano spotting The Colomber when he first sailed with his dad on the boat. c)When Stefano came face to face with The Colomber, and The Colomber told him that he is not going to kill him." Here I am with you finally," Stefano said, " Now its just the two of us." And gathering his remaining strength, he raised the harpoon to strike. d1)What the author is trying to get across, what you learn overall. The moral of the story. d2) Stefano just wanted to know what would happen if he came face to face with The Colomber. We know this because he kept coming back to the ocean to watch The Colomber every day. d3)Stefano wasted his whole life obsessing over the "monster." When the day came to face his "fears" he was too old and weak. d4)He wasted his life thinking and obsessing over The Colomber. When he went to face it he was too late, because he was old, and dying. d5) The theme is that in the end everyone has to face their destiny. No one can elude from it. For example when Stefano couldn’t escape from The Colomber no matter where he went, or how far away from sea he was.
