a. If you knew that something intended to have you for dinner, you’d probably stay as far away as possible. Stefano doesn’t do that. How do you explain his behavior – why does he continue to risk his life at sea? I think that he is curious in the colomber and why it picked him.
b. What do you think would have happened to Stefano if he had faced the colomber earlier in his life? He probably wouldn’t have wasted his whole life obsessing over the colomber.
c. Let’s assume that the colomber wasn’t real. If it wasn’t, what was Stefano’s “monster” that kept him coming back to the sea? Explain your answer. The monster is fear or even death, from what I have understood. Fear or the colomber has taken control of Stefano’s mind. It’s all he thinks about. He isn’t enjoying life because he’s spending too much time thinking that death is coming. By the time he’s old and ready to die, he faced fear and wasn’t going to die.
d. There’s more to this story than meets the eye. What is the author trying to tell us through the story of Stefano in The Colomber? Explain. The author is telling you to enjoy life and stop thinking about the end of your legacy. Don’t think about the future and enjoy right now.

A. If you knew that something intended to have you for dinner, you’d probably stay as far away as possible. Stefano doesn’t do that. How do you explain his behavior – why does he continue to risk his life at sea?
Stefano keeps close distance with it. He would not let the colomber get in the way of his passion of sailing.
B. What do you think would have happened to Stefano if he had faced the colomber earlier in his life? If he were to do that, he might have been happier in the end.
He wouldn’t have used up his life by obsessing over it.
C. Let’s assume that the colomber wasn’t real. If it wasn’t, what was Stefano’s “monster” that kept him coming back to the sea? Explain your answer.
The Colomber is seen as fear or death. Both of those things take control of your life.
d. There’s more to this story than meets the eye. What is the author trying to tell us through the story of Stefano in The Colomber? Explain.
That no matter what you can’t run away from fear and your own passing,

A. I explain his behavior as being curious. He continued to risk his life because he always wanted to see if the colomber kept following him. B. Nothing would of happened, the same thing that happened when he was old would of happened when he was young but he also wouldn't of wasted most of his life worrying about it. C. I think of it as a big metaphor, I think the colomber was guilt or resembling Stefano's fear of dying. D. I think its trying to tell us not to be afraid and stop fearing about dying or what happened in my past. 2. colomber, imploringly, intrepid, mirage, dissuaded
