1A. He had the will and determination to find that fish, the "Columber". His dad told him many stories of sightings and such but Stefano is just really interested in discovering and possibly catching the fish.
1B. I think he still would've stayed interested in it. Obessed with it, I wouldn’t say that but definitely interested and curious about the Columber. I think as long as Stefano's dad took Stefano out to sea to observe and try to discover the Colomber, at any age he would still be interested in it.
1C. I think the monster was just an emotion. He was a serious kid who wanted to prove something to himself and everyone else. He kept his studies going and never gave up in what he was always trying to find. Even growing up to be a man, he never stopped what he was doing and just kept it going until he was satisfied.
1D. I feel like the author is trying to get the point past that everyone has that one obsession that needs to be satisfied or fulfilled and nothing will get in the way of that person to stop it. I think that just because of how the author portrayed this story of Stefano and the Colomber.

a.He continues to risk his life because, its what his father did and what he wants to. He doesn’t stay away because he is a very eager person and isn't scared.
b.I think if Stefano would have faced the colomber earlier he would have devoured him ,because at the end he said he had wore him out. If he wasn’t wore out from all the swimming I think that it would have been different. The colomber spent his whole life chasing Stefano. I think this because of the story Stefano's father told him the first time he went out to sea.
c.I think what kept him going back to the sea was the memories he had, with his father. His father took him out to sea for the first time, and then told him never to go back. Stefano didn’t listen because as a kid he dreamed about being a boat captain , and taking after his father.
d.I think the author is trying to tell us is never give up on your dreams. I think this way because even after finding out there was a monster wanting to kill him, Stefano fallowed his dreams and became a boat captain. At the end he found out he had nothing to worry about and he fallowed his dreams for a good reason.

A.His behavior is uncaring to the colomber. He continues to risk his life because he wants to only sail and he doesn’t care if that will be the death of him.
B.His life would've been full of joy instead of him being unhappy and miserable.
C.If the colomber wasn’t real then Stafano's "monster" was maybe the pressure of being a better sailor than his father. His father was a very respected sailor and Stefano's wanted to be better than him.
D.The author is trying to tell us to don’t be afraid to face our enemies/problems, it might end up turning into a good thing. The colomber was a enemy/problem to Stafano but if he would've face it sooner instead of running from it then his life would've been so much better.

a. I feel that the "curse" and the idea of the monster waiting for him had consumed him for his entire life. He was in hopes of finally putting an end to his constant worry. By the time he was old, he was ready to face his never ending nightmare by confronting the monster and killing it for taking away so much of his life by waiting for him.
b. He would have come to the realization of what the monster's intentions actually were, and would't have lived his life in worry.
c. His developing ambishions as a child and the fact he wanted to carry out the tradition of the family. He was being robbed of his dreams because of this curse. This monster had taken away so much from him he had a need to return to sea for himself and even perhaps his father.
d. Waiting close to your death to confront a never ending worry in your life is never the right choice. Once you finally take the step to confronting these things, the situation could possibly turn out completely different than first thought.

A.Stefano risk his life at sea because he always wanted to go to sea and command ships bigger and more beautiful than his dad's. He also would want to give proof of his sea worthiness after being on land for all his life. The Colomber also strengthened his will and passion for the sea.
B.If Stefano faced the Colober earlier in his life, I think that he would have persued his dream in becoming the greatest sailor at sea due to his bravery of facing the Colomber and the phosphorescent sphere he received.
C.If the Colomber wasn’t real, Stefano's "monster" would have been his fear that something was really after him.
D.The author is trying to tell us that you should not let your fear get in the way of following your dream and that your fear is not as bad as it seams. He also tries to tell us that facing your fear can result in a reward.

1A. Stefano is just curious. Instead of cowering over the fact that a shark might intentionaly eat him, he wants to see this giant fish. He wants to know if what his father and others said was indeed the truth
2A. If whole point of the colomber was to delivier a "magical" pearl, then obviously Stefano would have obtained it earlier if he would have faced the fish. He probably wouldn't have been old, bitter and unhappy as explained in the text, but instead enjoyed the rest of his working and sailing at seas.
3A. His curosity. As I've said he wasn't sure if this creature was real or not, but he wanted to confirm it. Although, if it wasn't real he would probably have been dissapointed since he was expecting at least something in the Ocean.
4A. One theme that could depicted is as simple as "not judging someone or something by their appearance. Everyone was afraid of a giant shark in the middle of the ocean. People would spread rumors saying that once you've spotted this fish he'll eventually devour you later in your life. However, that wasn't the case. The Colomber instead wanted to give happiness and prosperity from a pearl to whomever obtains it. What others thought was a scary monster, is actually something that could give you peace for the rest of your life.

A)He wants to see what the "Colomber" wants and why he had picked him.Stefano became a sea captain to prove that he isn't scared of the Colomber. After all the years Stefano had done stuff with the sea he has only proven that the Colomber has been a friend.
B)He would have been younger would have probaly scarred for life for when the first time his dad takes him to sea he can't come along with his dad he wishes he coud go out with the sea with. He woud have probaly not have been the sea captain he was.
C)The fear that he had something coming out at him everytime he went out to sea.
D)That fear does haunts you for life.

1a.Stefano like his father has a love of the sea, and to be forced to go away from the sea is killing his dream or love.
1b.I believe if he faced it when he was young he would have been able to get the orb when he was full of life not when it ended.
1c.Maybe it was a family members spirit cursed to the sea in a shark like form only to appear to his family.

1a. His father died of an illness and he wanted to continue his business on his ship. Also he wants to see if the colomber is still waiting for him. 1b. He would have more luck, and fortune. He wouldn't be so scared of it and his father might not have died of illness if he had more luck. 1c. His monster was his eagerness to go back out to sea. He loves the sea and wants to go back to it. 1d.You must face your fears earlier in life so they don't bother you later. 2. 1.Perceiving 2. seafaring 3. pretext 4. dissuaded 5. patrimony 6. proprietor 7. subsequently 8. ambitious 9. phosphorescent 10. condemn.

A. He continues his life at see because it is the faimly tradition to sail on the sea and he wants to know if the colimber would follow him where ever he went and if he was cursed or not like his father told him.
B. He migt have been relieved that the creature only wanted to give him a pearl from the king of the sea . if he would have met im earlier he aldo might have not have had to live in fear and nurvousness he had to live with throughout his life.
C. If the monster wasn’t real, his monster would have been his mind playing tricks on him about what his father has told him when he was little about the black shadow in the water.
D. He is telling us to face our fears so we don’t live our life in fear over one little thing that you are afraid of.

A. It said in the book that he began to have an obsession so it's possible that he might be curious about the colomber and about it's legend. I would imagine that that would lead him to try to go out to sea just to try and get knowledge about this creature. B. I doubt he would have survived because of his lack of experience at sea. C. His monster was his urge to go to sea and follow in his fathers foot steps. I say that because even in the second paragraph he explained to his dad that as he got older his dream was to pilot vessels greater than his fathers. D. What I think stood out the most as being the lesson of the story was don't let anything stand in the path of your dreams. I say that because Stefano could have let fear stop him but instead he pressed on to follow his plan for his life. 2. 1.Vessel, 2.colomber, 3.bizon, 4.sea, 5.deck, 6.direction, 7.father, 8.inland, 9.sank, 10.masts

1a)He keeps risking his life at sea because he is curious about the fish and wants to know if the fish will get tired of waiting and go and look for another victim. He wants to know if it will keep waiting until he forgets about it and goes in the water so it will finally get its meal that its been waiting for for so many years
1b)He might have thought that it was a normal fish and went for a swim and got eaten by the colomber.
1c)It was most likely just the waves in the far distance. He probably was watching the waves and his amagination got the best of him.
1d)He is trying to tell us that you cant believe everything people say. If you believe everything people say and youre gullible, then almost everyone will try to take advantage of that and you will either be a misserable person or just have a very very difficult life.

1a)His behavior is weird because he risked his life instead of staying away and being safe. He continues to risk his life because he wants to follow in his father's footsteps of sailing out on the ocean. 1b)I think if Stefno would have faced it earlier in his life he would have died and not lived as long as he did live. 1c)If the colomber wasn’t real I think the monster that kept following Stefano would have been a shark. I think it would have been a shark because when you are on a ship out on the ocean most of the time you see sharks. 1d)He is trying to tell us that if you hear things that aren't true and you think it is then you are gullible. If you are gullible people will most likely take advantage of you by telling you false statements, and you will most likely believe them. 2 a)colomber b)intermittently c)scrutinized d)obstinately e)expedient f)inexorable g)intrepid h)abyss i)indomitable j)phosphorescent
