Michael Phelps Suspended Again www.teamusa.org/News/2014/October/06/Michael-Phelps-Receives-Six-Month-Suspension-For-DUITuesday September 30, 2014, the most decorated Olympian of all time, Michael Phelps, was arrested again for his second DUI in ten years. After competing in the FINA World Championships in the summer of 2014, Phelps was high up on the pedestal, but not for long. He was arrested for drinking while under the influence, speeding excessively, and crossing double lines. He is suspended from competing with the USA Swimming Association and from competing in the sport for at least six months. Olympians are held to high standards and after falling from the pedestal yet again, Michael has agreed to go to a six-week treatment center and will not be competing in the 2015 FINA World Championships.

sabr.org/bioproj/person/fa5574c8Edward Carl Gaedel was born on June 8, 1925, in Chicago. He grew to a maximum height of 43 inches, 3'7", and weighed approximately 65 pounds for much of his life. In August 1951, as owner of the American League St. Louis Browns, Bill Veeck needed to attract fans for a club that was perennially at the bottom in attendance. He focused on a celebration to honor the 50-year history of the American League, a birthday party of sorts. He chose Gaedel to be a pinch hitter for one at bat as a publicity stunt. When in the batter's box, he crouched, wielding a toy bat and displaying a strike zone described as 1.5 inches in height. He walked on four pitches. Gaedel was paid $15,400 for his act. He died on June 18, 1961, after suffering a heart attack because his alcohol addiction casued heart problems. The attack was caused by the aftermath of a scuffle outside his home.
