I personally love the movie, it's very inspiring. I don't really relate to any of the characters. My favorite character is Eva. She tries to be the tough one in the class in the beginning but once they become a family she really lets herself open and doesn't try to act tough. Students can learn that if you try something and stick with it, you will achieve and they can learn to always be true to themselves. Teachers can learn to be tough and if they stick with something and believe in it and keep fighting for it, they will get what they want. I think people should see this movie because it's very inspiring and everyone can learn something just by watching this movie.

That was one of the best movies I have ever watched. The emotional and realistic aspects really hit me and their stories brought tears to my eyes. I could relate to them with how they felt like a family together. Many of my friends are like brothers and sisters to me and I don't know what I would do without them. My favorite character was Erin because she never gave up. While many others had no hope for these children, she put every ounce of her soul into teaching them. Just by caring, Erin was able to change every single one of these teenagers' lives for the better. Students can learn that everyone is going through tough times, but that's not a reason to give up. You must be determined and strong if you want to accomplish something. Students can also learn that they are not alone in the world. Teachers can learn to not just assume the worst of the students. Teachers need to actually care about the students and give their all in teaching them. People should definitely see this movie because it shows you the hard truths of the world we live in. Not everything is handed to you on a silver platter. You have to care enough to try and change things and this movie obviously shows that through the determination of the teacher and the students.

a: This movie is really inspiring. It truly shows reality, it doesn't change things to make it seem like things aren't as bad as they really are. I can relate to the characters to certain extent. I had hard times growing up but it did get better. I made it through. Changes were made in my life and that's what the kids were doing, making changes in their life for the better.
b: Erin Gruwell's attitude was always positive. She was in now way selfish. She focused on helping the kids and making their lives better and to no extent was she going to give up. Despite how the kids acted at the beginning of the freshman year, she stuck through it. How she changed these students lives and gave them chances to experience things they wouldn't have been able to experience, was very noble and admirable.
c: Student can learn from this movie that it's better to stick by each other and put aside their differences. It may be hard, but it can be done. Teachers can learn to involve their students more and try to do things that relate not just to the curriculum but also the students. Teachers have an oppurtunity to change student's lives and thats what they should aim for.
d: I believe that people should see this movie. It gives them a chance to see things from a different perspective, not just their own. People usually only focus on the way they want things to be, they dont pay attention to the ways things really are.

While I liked the movie a lot, I couldn't relate to any of the characters. They all grew up in bad neighborhoods and have seen many people die while I grew up in a great area and have thankfully never witnessed death. I did enjoy watching the movie and trying to imagine what it would be like to live the way they did. Eva is probably my favorite character because she has so much fire in her. She stands up for what she thinks is right (like in the courtroom) and yet she's compassionate and caring, which are all great qualities in a person. From this movie, students can learn to give people a chance. The students in this movie learned that and because of it, made some new friends and got some help from their teacher that had nothing to do with school. Teachers, like Miss Gruwell, can learn that everyone has something they're going through. Teachers need to listen to students and try to help, and not judge them so easily. People should definitely watch this movie because it tells a story of change. It shows that even very different people can come together and realize that they aren't as different from each other as they thought. It is inspirational to watch as students and teacher come together to make a difference in their school, community, and each other. Overall, I think it was a great movie that I would reccomend to others.

A: Personally, I liked the movie. It delievered a great message and was kind of inspirational. I couldn't really relate to the characters although because I don't have as many hardships in life like they have. I try to avoid all the gang stuff and other things that can ruin a life. But for all them hardships, the way they overcame them as a family was touching. B: My favorite character in this movie has to be Mrs. Gruwell. She had such a way with those kids and inspired them. At first, they kids didn't like her and respect her at all. She didn't understand them at all. But over time, she gained their trust and helped them through hardships by making them write journals. She used her time and money and dedicated it to these kids to better their knowledge and lives. C:Students can learn a lot from this movie. They can learn respect and trust in one another. Also, they can learn how to overcome hardships and to come to authority for help. For teachers, they can learn a more personal relationship with their students. To always help them when needed and to go out of their way to better the environment and knowledge for their students. D:I believe that everyone who is mature should see this movie. It delievers a pretty good message and can inspire you in a way. Respecting authority and fixing your life after a wrong is a message everyone should know in case they find someone in a situation simular to the movie. Plus the movie was pretty entertaining. I would totally reccommend this movie.

A.) My personal responce to the movie was that it sends an amazing message to young people everywhere. It shows us that we can do whatever we want to do, as long as we put our head to it. It shows us that we are all the same. Although we may not see it, as teenagers we are all going through similar struggles.
B.) My favorite character was Ava because she showed amazing strength and courage. Even though she knew the consequences would be harsh, she still stood up for what she believed in and what she knew was right. We saw this when she told the judge that it was her friend who was guilty of murder.
C.) Students can learn that we all should treat each other equally. The color of our skin, where we live, or how we look do not define us. Teachers can learn that they should not give up on us. Sometimes all we need is a push in the right direction and the result of that could be amazing.
D.) I think that everbody should see this movie. Although we do not live in a place like the setting of the movie, I was still moved by the message taken from it. You dont have to be from the ghetto, or have family members coming in and out of jail to relate to some of these kids. It could be the way that you feel left out, or if you feel like you don't quite fit in. I strongly believe that every person who sees this movie will be able to take something meaningful away form it.

I found this movie to be absolutely fantastic. The fact that it is based on a true story makes it all the better. These students, despite their differences and hardships, found it within themselves to come together and be a unified family. They overcame their false judgements and got to know each other and found they weren't unalike at all- they were quite similar. I found that to be amazing. I can't say I closely relate to the students, but I know what it's like, just as many others do, to go through tough times at home. I also have wrongly judged others before getting to know them- and once I did, I formed close friendships that lasted, just as they did. It's tough to choose just one character as my favorite, but I'd have to say that it was Erin. She proved, despite everyone's doubts, that she COULD teach- and even excel at it. She served as not only a teacher to her students, but an inspiration as well. She drove them to work hard and unite as one group of people- differences set aside. Erin was persistent and hardworking, and she never quit. When she wanted to accomplish something, she did not stop until she knew she did all she could. I believe that students can learn a lot from this movie. It shows them that hardships don't have to get in the way of a successful life and learning career. It also shows that differences do not have to come in the way of friendship. Teachers can take a lot from this movie as well. They can learn a lot from Erin- she proved that having a personal connection with students can go a long way. I believe this is an excellent movie for everyone. You can definitely take a lot from it, and maybe even apply it to your own life. It was both inspirational and emotional- all good movies should make you feel something. I would definitely recommend The Freedom Writers. It opens your eyes to the struggles students across the country went and are still going through.

1. My personal response to the movie is that it is inspiring. This movie shows that regarless of where you start out in life, you can always acheive amazing things. Sometimes in life all you need is the small nudge in the right direction. Not everyone wants to see you hurt there are people who want to see you reach the top. Surrounding yourself with those people makes you feel safe. Personally I dont think I can relate to them, only in the aspect of having your hardships in life. Not everything is simple.
2. Marcus is my favorite character in the movie. To me he represented hope and strength. He knew nothing would come easy but if you put the time into it, in the end you may be surprised at the outcomes. Every struggle in his life was just another obstacle for him to climb over. He made it through alot, in the beginning he was stubborn to the thought of change. In the end he was so open to it he felt as though he could change anything just with a little thought.
3. This story can show students that to get what they want they must work for it. Nothing in life gets handed to you. Sometimes struggling is just another way of knowing that you are trying. It can also show that if you take risks to succeed in life they will benefit you in more than one way.
4. Yes I think people should see this movie. It may be an eye opener for many people. People who are selfish will see that not everyone has an easy life. Being self centered or selfish does not help anyone not even yourself. For people who have a rough time doing things, this movie will give them hope and allow them to realize that so much is possible if you try.

A. I believe that the movie is very inspirational and it shows that as long as you do try and work hard you can accomplish a goal. Teenagers have to fight many battles like stated in the movie. The movie shows the struggles of teens today and I think this movie not only relates to me, but to any other teenager out there. Everyone has different struggles, whether its hoome life or their social life. Its different for everyone and everyone should know they can get through them and excel.
B. I found Eva as the most inspirational character. She has a tough outer shell, but inside isn't as strong. Her fathe is in jail and she had recently witnessed a murder. She was called to the stand at the trial and had to decide whether she would tell the truth or "protect her own". In the end she did the right thing and told the truth about the murder. She knew that it would be hard for, but in the end she knew the family of the victim deserves jutice. She did the right thing knowing it ould not benfit her in anyway and I find that truly inspiring.
C. Students and teachers can both benifit from this movie. Student can learn that no matter how hard life is you can get through it and accomplish your goals. The teachers can take away that they can't give up on students no matter what because they can suprise you.
D. I think everyone should see this moive. It shows not only not to give up, but not to judge a book by its cover. These students were described as "ghetto" and were thought to not amount to anything. This movie just shows that even the "ghetto kids" can be smart and write well even if they don't come from the most stable of homes. Basically, you can't judge someone until you understand what they have been through.

a. I personally enjoyed watching this film because it went into depth about what happens outside of the classroom. I consider this to be one of the more inspirational films I’ve watched in my life. b. Mrs. Gruwell was my favorite character out of the bunch. I have a lot of respect for her and how she handled her job. I believe that those students got more out of high school in the two years she had them than most get out of a full four year high school education. I admired how she truly believed in her students and didn't give up on them because of how they first presented themselves. c. I personally feel that both students and teachers can take away the knowledge that everyone has their own battles and struggles that they face outside of school every day. If we focused on treating people as people and not just a part in a system, I believe there would be much more productivity. The more comfortable a student is with a class or with a teacher, the more they take away from the education. d. I would highly recommend this film to anyone. I feel that people should see this because if it wasn’t a way you personally saw things, I believe it has the capability of opening your eyes to a new perspective. This film is highly inspirational.

A: I thought the movie was an eye opener. I knew that there were teens that had terrible lives, but I didn't know it was that bad. The kids in that movie had to go through so much; more than some people can imagine. In the whole movie, I related mostly to Mrs. G. The way that she went out of her way to help those kids was amazing. To her, those kids deserved everying in the world. What they wanted, she tried to make it possible. She went above and beyond and did the best that she could. B: My favorite character was Mrs. G. She just amazed me. The way that she gave her students her best even though she was being divorced is remarkable. For some teachers, they either like or dislike a class and stuents. Mrs. G let herself get to know her studets. She didn't let her kids be bad and think negatively. she thought that they all deserved "A"s. She saw them for wo they really were, not who tey thougt they were. She is an insperation. C: Students can learn that there are people like them. They are not alone. Everyone has something that they wish they could change. the kids in the movie all thought life was terrible. They all had people bringing them down. Teachers can learn that not every student is perfect. We all have difficulties in our everyday lives. Some teacers think that life is perfect for us. We don't have to worry about a thing. We have everything handed to us. That isn't true. This movie is the perfect example. D: YES! Peaople should see this movie. The movie will change their views on life. They will look at people in a new way, look at the world differently, and try to do all that they can for others. They will look at Mrs. G and want to be like her. People will be their bests and know that there are people who care.
